Although almost forgotten, the Jewish Cemetery in Osijek's Bikara (also called the Lower Town Jewish Cemetery) tells the story of a once important and numerous Jewish community in Osijek's Lower Town. The cruelty of the 20th century and the evil of the Holocaust brought the community and its history to the brink of oblivion, but the cemetery remained standing.
In 2018, through the efforts of Vlado and Vilim Herman, the cemetery and its morgue were completely renovated and returned to a dignified state. Today, it is also a cultural monument, and through this site you can explore its history and the names of the people who rest there.
Using the search bar, you can search through records of the deceased, view photos of monuments, and read the inscriptions on them.
